Any ideas when this will be available? At the moment I have stuck the
driver John wrote in to 2.4.20 and changed most of the relevent parts.
The plan is to assist debug what he has unless Xilinx and Montavista are
likely to have a driver out within the next week or two.

I'd be interested to hear what the workaround is.

The Ethernet works fine in interrupt driven mode. It doesn't work for SGDMA.
