This is a great product. It makes a good cup of espresso and easily foams the milk. The carafe is a bit of a tight fit under the espresso basket and it has a "new" equipment odor, which has gradually lessened. All in all, I find this to be a good purchase.
This may have been a fluke, but within 5 times of using this product, the seal seemed to break because water doesn't go through the brewing process. Only about half of it comes out as coffee, and the other half comes out of the top as steam. It worked great until this started happening, and it has good reviews, so I am exchanging mine instead of getting a refund. If it was a fluke, I will post again to let everyone know.
All the positive things the other reviewers said were correct. It makes consistent cups of espresso in four minutes, and is easy to clean. It is a great price.Compared to standard stovetop espresso, it* makes less. It makes one actual cup of espresso. That is what they mean by "four cups."* also does not froth milk, though it did for the other reviewers. Must be something wrong with mine.* is easier, because you don't have to stand there and watch it to keep it from burning. You can set it up and turn it on, then go take a shower or whatever while it makes the coffee.* is transparent. I wanted to see the coffee being made without opening the stovetop espresso, and that was not possible. I can see the coffee fill the carafe of this one from across the room.* is just as easy to clean. The instructions are not very good, but you will figure it out. Also, I just got this, so I don't know how long it will last, but the stovetops usually had to be replaced twice a year or so because they would overheat and warp.
I ordered this to replace a Bialetti stove-top maker. I have had it a couple of months and it is great. I saw some reviews about some machines within this price category being flimsy and unreliable. The Imusa is terrific. Easy to clean (Bialetti was awful!), and makes up to a quad in under 5 minutes. It is lightweight, but sturdy; and makes thick rich foam, even with skim milk. I am a former chef and have had some fancy machines that cost thousands of dollars in my kitchens, Imusa gets it done for me at home. I even went back and ordered a second as a gift.Adding on to this review: If you haven't been using your old espresso/cappuccino maker because it isn't easy, or a pain to clean up, then this is the machine for you.
For the money, this is one great little machine. It heats quickly, foams the milk easily and promptly, is easy to clean up, and looks cute on the counter. This is our fourth (and least expensive) cappuccino maker - it is also the best.
Espresso or cappuccino in only minutes with the IMUSA Espresso & cappuccino Maker. The stylish design is ideal for storing on your countertop. The steam tube makes for an ideal froth for your favorite cappuccino or latte. The removeable filter is easy to clean and convenient glass jar with pouring feature makes handling a snap.
