While the Pod Maker is broken this holster works as it is supposed to. Suggestion: poke a hole in the top of the pod after inserting in the holster and putting on the lid. You get more coffee fullness.
This is an awesome little device. You will save money by using the pods (you can get the pods for as little as $.20 each) AND there are some really great pod coffees. As described the device is self tamping (it presses/squeezes the pods during the brewing process) which lends to excellent extraction. I've used the device for over 3 months and there hasn't been a single problem. Follow the video in the description and you'll learn exactly how to place the pod into the device. I do recommend that once you've inserted the pod you should turn the device over and insure that the tamping press (the plastic piece on the spring) is situated exactly in the middle of the pod.
I originally bought a Senseo, but returned it for a Keurig. So, I have a bunch of [...] pods that I didn't want to go to waste. I've read the directions, and even watched the video that the reviewer kindly left. It just won't work. The water barely trickles out no matter what size cup I try to make. I've even tried to wet the pod, which is what needed to be done when used in the Senseo. When I did that, there were coffee grinds everywhere. I'm not sure if the pod is too large (10g) or what, but I'm bummed. I'm planning to call the 800 number, so hopefully it's just something I'm doing wrong...
This pod holster is very helpful as it lets you use the Senseo pods for more choices.
Bought the holster to save money of course on the K cups. I bought the Douwe egberts pods on sale and used them on the holster as directed. I brewed as directed numerous times but the taste of the coffee that came out had a consistently diluted taste. Looking at the design I thought that the base being left open to accommodate the spring mechanism led to decreased hot water pressure inside the pod which was the strength of the K cups. In the K cups the hot water gets forced into the coffee granules under pressure thus leading to a full taste. So to get around this problem I recycled the K cups by washing out the used coffee and after letting the filter dry I cut open a pod and poured the contents inside the recycled K cup (which of course has the cover foil removed). I just used the cover of the holster to act as a cap on the K cup and placed it in the machine. The difference in the taste was like night and day. Try this method yourself to see the difference. The pod holster concept was great, but I think you could use it another way to get a better tasting cup of coffee.
The Perfect Pod Holster allows you to use virtually any pod 55mm and greater in your Keurig coffee Machine. It features a self tamping spring which extracts a beter cup of coffee or tea. Now you can buy less expensive pods and use them in your Keurig machine. You can also make your own custom coffee pods using the Perfect Pod Maker (sold seperately) for the perfect cup of coffee you have been looking for.
