Spring 2014 issue of Xcell Journal Highlights Xilinx's SDNet Software Defined Specification Environment for Designing Next Generation Networks

SAN JOSE, Calif., April 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ: XLNX) today announced immediate availability of the spring 2014 edition of its award-winning user magazine, Xcell Journal. Issue 87's cover story examines Xilinx's new Software Defined Specification Environment for Networking (SDNet). SDNet allows users to quickly design and build smarter, softly defined line cards for packet processing in next generation wired and wireless networks and data centers. It also enables the industry to deploy 'softly' defined networks, with both a programmable control plane and programmable data plane that greatly expands the potential impact of SDN.

Xcell Journal issue 87 includes numerous informative how-to articles for every technical skill level. The issue includes a comprehensive feature article on how Xilinx's 20nm UltraScale™ All Programmable device architecture is suited for creating the world's most advanced wireless radio applications. The issue also includes a feature on Xilinx's new Open Tcl store in which Xilinx users can share and find Tcl scripts to improve time to market. Feature articles in this issue include:

• Xilinx's New SDNet Environment Enables 'Softly' Defined Networks
• Xilinx's 20-nm UltraScale Architecture Advances Wireless Radio Applications
• Xilinx Opens a Tcl Store
• Angle Measurement Made Easy with Xilinx FPGAs and a Resolver-to-Digital Converter
• Motor Drives Migrate to Zynq SoC with Help from MATLAB
• How to Use Interrupts on the Zynq SoC
• Calculating Mathematically Complex Functions
• Make Slow Software Run Fast with Vivado HLS

Additionally, be sure to visit Xilinx's new Xcell Daily, in which editor Steve Leibson highlights the daily happenings at Xilinx and the many remarkable innovations Xilinx users are bringing to market with All Programmable devices.
