Our Tewkesbury - based client is looking for a senior FPGA Engineer, whose primary purpose to take full ownership for the design and development of FPGAs and digital modules (VHDL) in a communications related environment providing cryptographic and cyber security solutions and lead small projects and/or teams as necessary Main Duties of this Position include: Design, implementation, test, integration and delivery of digital communication systems Development of VHDL for FPGAs in accordance with TRL procedures Authoring of supporting design documentation to a high standard Development of test harnesses to verify developed items using self-checking testbenches, BFMs etc. Integration of the developed firmware on the target hardware with other system components and software Release of developed items in accordance with the company’s configuration control procedures Provide progress/technical updates to the project manager Provide project schedule estimates and technical risk identification Contribute to peer design reviews Undertake requirements capture, analysis and management Take full ownership of and responsibility for development, implementation, test and debug of FPGA modules using VHDL Mentoring and development of junior engineers Preparation of material for phase reviews Leadership of small teams and projects as required Knowledge Skills: Essential Degree qualified in electronics/ engineering related subject, however experience will be considered in lieu of formal academic qualifications At least 4 years post graduate experience preferably in the communications industry At least 3 years experience of FPGA development using VHDL Excellent design standards and strong debug skills An appreciation of digital hardware design Significant experience of developing self-checking testbenches, BFMs Documentation generation: Requirements, design, interface specification, test specifications Experienced in achieving timing closure on FPGAs Interfacing to software and high speed digital hardware Highly Desirable An appreciation of other engineering disciplines Software, Digital and Analogue Electronics Familiarity with digital communications protocols and general networking experience Experience of developing on large Altera and Xilinx FPGAs Experience of ARM System On Chip Experience of designing for security Working knowledge of the following engineering tools Synplify, QuestaSim, Quartus II, Xilinx ISE/EDK, CVS , DOORS Experience of engineering development in the V model environment Scripting tcl/tk, perl System engineering, requirements capture, requirements analysis, requirements decomposition and requirements management To ensure that your application receives the fullest possible attention, it is essential that you consider carefully the role that you are applying for, and then ensure that your CV contains all relevant information about yourself in relation to that role.
