Attend the June 17th Terrestrial Solar Array Simulation Webcast for Inverter Testing

Terrestrial solar inverter designers, manufacturers and installers
must ensure inverters/solar power systems can extract and deliver
all available power from the solar panels to which they are
attached. Agilent Technologies Solar Array Simulators can
simulate real life terrestrial operating environments experienced
by inverters installed in residential or commercial solar power systems.

Editor's Note

Tomorrow the iPhone 3G S comes out.  I don't think it has nearly
the hype and excitement from consumers like the last one did. When the
3G was launched all you could hear about or read about in the news was
the phone. With the 3G S coming out tomorrow...not a lot has
been floating around.

However, that's not going to stop us from getting up way to early in
the morning to stand in line to get a few of them so that we can do a
teardown on the phone to find out what is inside. This is something
that we've done a number of times in the past, and most recently with
the Palm Pre.

We'll be posting our findings on EETimes and the Mobile Handset
DesignLine sites so check there to find out what components are inside
the 3G S.

Spotlight on Courses

--Smallest 6-A, 17-V DC/DC -- TPS54620 SWIFT--

TI's TPS54620 is the industry's smallest single-chip, 6-A step-down
switcher with integrated FETs. The 95-percent efficient device is 60
percent smaller than today's multi-chip converters.

--Physical Verification: The Road Ahead Web Seminar--

Get on the road to faster debug, reduced variability and simpler,
smaller checks and decks. This free web seminar will explain how your
foundry, peers, and potential competitors have prepared themselves for
the challenges of advanced verification - driving down cycle time in
order to get to market
faster.http://newsletter.techonline.com/cgi...rT0OWH0HJsl0EK

--Fundamentals of Embedded Systems Security--

This course explains the fundamentals of embedded software
optimization that every embedded system designer must understand,
including how to use less memory, how to use less power, optimization
tradeoffs, and specific approaches and tool.

Webinars

--Direct Memory Access (DMA) for PCI Express on Xilinx Virtex-6 and
Spartan-6 FPGAs--

Tues., June 23, 2009 11AM PST / 2PM EST
Regardless of system bandwidth requirements however, to take advantage
of PCI Express links and make them efficient, a Direct Memory Access
engine (DMA) is required to move data to and from the FPGA to a
processor or another PCI Express device. Working with ecosystem
Alliance Partners including Northwest Logic, Xilinx offers the key
components to take advantage of the integrated block for PCI Express.

--Advanced Nonlinear Device Characterization Utilizing Nonlinear
Vector Network Analyzer and X-parameters with Arbitrary Load
Dependence--

Wed., June 24, 2009 9AM PST / 12PM EST
This presentation will focus on Agilent's Nonlinear Vector Network
Analyzer (NVNA) measurement capability as well as the application of
X-parameters for the design and analysis of active components. The
NVNA enables active device designers to accurately measure and model
nonlinear device characteristics providing measurements such as
calibrated amplitude, cross-frequency phase of frequency spectrum,
vector corrected time domain waveforms, X-parameters, and pulse
multi-envelope domain for analysis of long term memory effects. Sign

--RFIC on-chip passive modeling with EM (Electromagnetic) simulation
on advanced CMOS technology nodes--

Thurs., June 26, 2009 6AM PST / 9AM EST
Companies migrating RFIC designs to advanced technology nodes and
extended frequency ranges are facing rising concerns about the
accuracy of passive RF device and interconnect models available in
their design flow. High frequency losses and high aspect ratio
interconnects are driving the creation of more complex structures
based on both thick and thin metal for RF passive devices such as
spiral inductors, baluns, MIM caps, and general device to device
interconnects. It is becoming increasingly important to accurately
model these passive components even during technology development to
enable RF design engineers to meet aggressive product schedules.

--RF Power LDMOS Technology Development for Optimum Ruggedness--

Thurs., June 25, 2009 8AM PST / 11AM EST
RF Power amplifiers are often exposed to non-ideal load or severe
mismatch conditions. Ruggedness and reliability have always been very
important design parameters in the LDMOS technologies brought to
market by NXP Semiconductors. This webinar addresses the LDMOS
technology design for optimum reliability and ruggedness. Insight will
be given in how to create the most rugged and reliable LDMOS
technology available in the industry. Various methods to characterize
ruggedness will be discussed, backed up by practical examples. Sign up

--How To Pass The Receiver Compliance Test For PCI Express--

Tues., June 30, 2009 10AM PST / 1PM EST
This presentation reviews how to approach PCI Express receiver
compliance test. We will discuss the different flavors of the PCI
Express 2.0 specifications ("base" and "CEM"), clock topologies ("data
clocked" and "common reference clock"), and the requirements for
receiver test. We will review peculiarities of the PCI Express jitter
tolerance specification (frequency response of RJ and residual SSC),
the receiver test set-up, test methodologies, and latest measurement
solutions from Agilent Technologies. Sign up today by going to:

--Optimize Multicore Solutions with Model Driven Development--

Tues., June 30, 2009 12PM PST / 3PM EST
Multicore processors create challenges for software development.
Embedded operating systems are being enhanced to support multicore
environments but software developers also need advanced tools to help
address multicore software development issues. Discover how a model
driven approach allows for rapid configuration of overall core usage
and maximization of processing bandwidth, in the context of an RTOS.
This approach enables faster exploration and delivery of optimized
multicore solutions. Sign up today by going to:
