Default use of different noises in/for hearing aid development etc.?

Hello,

I am a student, studying Hearing Engineering and Audiology.
I have to give a presentation about the different noises (white, colored
narrow and broad band, any important forgotten?) and have to build
bridge to hearing aids. I do know, that for different tests during th
development and repairment different noises are used, BUT can you give m
a hint where to find more information about "when to use which noise"?

Thanx a lot,
Laura

Hi Laura,

This isn't quite what you're asking for, but could be useful. Zwicker
and Fastl's "Psychoacoustics: Facts and Models" (second updated edition)
has some information on the human auditory system as well as an entire
chapter on hearing aids. Additionally the chapter "Applications in
Audiology" contains a subsection titled "Speech in Background Noise."
I haven't read the material but it could be worth a look.
