Default Suggested Book...for dummies

Hello,

I need to learn and have some basics at hand. I am trying to write
code for classifying raw signal data into Marks and spaces and the
like. I am also trying to extract encoding info from raw data bits and
many more things. I am stumped...at this point.

What i am lacking here is basic signal knowledge. Can you please
suggest some basic book for understangin signals, modulation, marks
and spaces, formulae or methods to determine if a stream of raw bits
indicate the presence of a carrier signal etc?

Thank you.
Ishi

This may be a bit over the top for what you're looking for, but my
favorite for this sort of thing has been "Signals and Systems" by
Oppenheim et al.

You can also hit, www.dspguru.com and www.dspguide.com the dspguide
is a full dsp book online in pdf form (which is very handy, especially
if you do not want to drop a load of cash on a book, that may or may
not be over the top.) dspguru has a wealth of good information and
links to other books, various pdf files explaining some different
topics etc.

hope that helps.

Hi Ishira,

Here is a good introductory book that is easy to read:

Signals and Systems Made Ridiculously Simple by Z. Z. Karu

Cheers,

Thank you so much for all your suggestions.

All of them look very promising. Can't wait to dig in!
