Default realtime audio / Java - Interface

Hi,
I am thinking about implementing a sound localisation module but don'
have a clue how to read in the digital or analog audio signal, especiall
how to process it in Java. Can I use something like javax.midi ?
Grateful for any hints!
cheers,
Heidrun
