Of course they are related. Don't you know the sampling frequency and
the pass and stop band frequencies of your required filter?

FDA tool generates symmetric or anti-symmetric filter coefficients
(ie. linear phase filters), depending on what you ask it to do.

Why are you worried about the symmetry of the coefficients? What
exactly are your design criteria for the filter?
