Default marketing messages are very annoying

Hi,

Is there some way to stop these marketing messages appearing at
comp.dsp? Can the moderator do something? I am talking about
"paypal", horses, jordon......

It is very annoying when comp.dsp gets flooded with such messages.

Regards
Bharat

I hereby make a unilateral decision to appoint you official moderator
of comp.dsp, an officially unmoderated newsgroup.

So, okay, go do something.

Yes, it is, but since comp.dsp is, thankfully, an unmoderated
newsgroup there's not much to be done about it. That's part of the
price we pay for the advantages of hanging around in an unmoderated
group.

I wonder if how much spam you see is dependent on what news server you
use. I use supernews.com and see very little. When various issues come
up it seems to me that users of free news servers have more problems
than what I see.

All* those messages come from Google, and Google "do[es]n't regulate
content" i.e. spam is fine with them. Pretty soon, now, if Google
doesn't try to shut out spam, I'm going to shut out Google, in all its
forms. When enough of us do that and people who now use gmail and Google
Groups for posting switch to other services in order to be heard, maybe
the nice folks at Google will take notice and enforce their TOS.
