the IEEE is looking for nominations for the "IEEE Signal Processing
Magazine Column Award":

"
The IEEE Signal Processing Society has approved a new paper award,
IEEE SignalProcessing Magazine Best Column Award, to honor the
author(s) of a column of exceptional merit and broad interest on a
subject related to the IEEE SignalProcessing Society's technical scope
and appearing in the Society's magazine.The award will consist of $500
US per author (up to a maximum of $1500 US peraward) and a
certificate.
"

The articles from Rick's DSP Tips & Tricks column may be nominated:

"
To be eligible for consideration, an article must have appeared in The
Columns& Forums section of IEEE Signal Processing Magazine in any
issue predating the nomination deadline listed below. Evaluation of
the articles shall be on the basis of quality and effectiveness in
presenting subjects of broad interest to the Society's members.
"
(The nomination deadline is 1. November).

Take this chance to show the IEEE how we value the DSP Tips & Tricks
column! The best thing is, _anybody_ is allowed to nominate:

Nominations may arise from any individual (including readers of the
Magazine),members of the IEEE Signal Processing Magazine editorial
board or the Society'sother publications, or technical committees, and
shall be submitted directly to the Society's Awards Board (see below).
Current members of the SignalProcessing Society's Awards Board are
ineligible. Self-nominations are not accepted or considered.
"

One can also nominate more than one article:

To nominate one or more articles for the award, email Mos Kaveh,
VicePresident-Awards and Membership at <e-mail censored> before 1
November 2007 with the following information:
* Article title
* Authors
* Column, Magazine issue, date of publication (any date prior to 1
November2007)
* Short statement supporting the nomination (less than 1 page)

I will personally nominate two articles from the DSP Tips & Tricks
column written by comp.dspers that I have found very useful and
interesting! Send the nomination(s) to <three-letter first name of
VicePresident-Awards> at umn dot edu.

Hi Andor,
Gosh, this was all "new" to me, so I
searched the Internet for more info.

Thanks for telling us about this Andor!!

I suppose I should nominate some
"DSP Tips & Tricks" articles. But doing
so would be like choosing which of my
children I Love the most. Humm...

I hope the guys here make the effort to
nominate their favorite "DSP T&T" article,
because that would help convince the
magazine's Editors that the "DSP T&T"
column is useful.
