Default Filter for removing data noise

Hi All,

I am now trying to implement a real time filter to remove noice from
data. The data are from quadrature encoders used to measure a rotation and
from gyroscope. I am sampling the data in 40Hz. After take a derivative (for
speed and angular rate) the result shows a large variation. What kind of
filter(s) are the best to remove the noise?

Any sggestions are welcom,

Have a nice weekend.

Everett

Are the track signals themselves noisy? Most encoders put out logic
levels or raw signals suitable for converting to logic levels with
insignificant noise.

Are the track signals steady (without jitter) when the shaft turns at
steady speed?

You can get better help if you characterize the noise better.

Same to you.
