4G vs. Power Amps
Modern base stations moving to 4G services must confront power amp inefficiency. PAs can encounter significant distortion when run in nonlinear domains. While digital pre-distortion (DPD) methods have been developed for such distortion problems, they have required banks of dedicated DSP processors to improve the efficiency of power amps. In this video, RF product manager David Hawke shows how using Xilinx DPD with a new generation of power amps can take efficiency beyond 40 percent.
