Avalon's Alberta product combines an OTU3 Framer with ODU3/OPU3 overhead processing and an SFI-5 interface to 40G/43G optical transceivers. Customers have choice of G.709 FEC or a variety of Enhanced FEC algorithms.

The Alberta core has been hardware validated and deliered to customers in a Xilinx Virtex 5 platform. The Alberta can be combined with enhanced forward error correction (EFEC) in a single Xilinx Virtex 5 device. Avalon's Alberta core (with G.709 FEC) also has been delivered to customers in an Altera Stratix II GX platform.

The Alberta core can be customized per user requirements or combined with other IP cores from Avalon to form a complete FPGA based solution.
