FPGA with ethernet

Hi,

Im planning to build a new development for ethernet communication, but Im really confused about using FPGA into Ethernet.

I would like to ask all expertise in FPGA area, Is there necessary or relevant if I would like to build a communication protocol which involved FPGA with Ethernet. Is it too difficult using FPGA to create ethernet? I dun hv any specific board yet, but just curious about difficulties using FPGA with ethernet. I only have 4 months to develop connection between ethernet and FPGA. what do u think? pls advice me.

Many thanks.

FPGA with ethernet

No.it is not that difficult to prototype an Ethernet Controller on FPGA.

There is readily available Ethernet Core(10/100 Mbps) in Altera Forums as well Opencores.

You have to understand Ethernet Principles to do the project and a FPGA prototypr board which has Ethernet Phy on it.

Hope this helps you.

All the best.
